After completing two diploma courses in architecture and urban planning, Josef Weber passed the second state examination to become a state architect. Subsequent stations were the TU Dresden as senior assistant for research and urban observation, head of the department of urban planning with the areas of urban planning, urban construction and urban design in Halle/Saale, head of the office for urban planning and environment in Constance and head of the urban development office in Nuremberg. Since 2011, he has headed the Planning and Building Department as a professional city councillor, with the Office for Building Management, the Office for Urban Planning and Mobility, the Building Supervisory Office and the Civil Engineering Office. At the same time, the department fulfils specific tasks and is the liaison unit for various planning associations, clubs and societies.
