From 1995 to 2001, Christoph Groneck studied civil engineering at the Bergische Universität Wuppertal. From 2001 to 2003, he was a research assistant at the same university, where he completed his doctorate on the topic “French planning models for tramway systems in comparison with Germany” in 2007. He was then a member of various committees, including the working groups “Differentiated Service” and “Tramway Infrastructure Design” of the VDV (Association of German Transport Companies), and the working committee “Public Transport Facilities” of the FGSV (Research Society for Roads and Traffic). Since 2003, he has been a transport planner at the Rhein-Sieg-Kreis public transport authority in Siegburg, department “Transport and Mobility”, responsible for the updating of the local transport plan, the planning of the public transport offer, the strategic development of public transport and the extension of the tramway network. To add another string to his bow, he became a permanent contributor to the specialist journal “stadtverkehr”, various books published by Robert Schwandl Verlag on urban railway systems in Europe.
