Reinhold Schröter has been with Stuttgarter Straßenbahnen AG (SSB) since 2009, initially as Head of Operations Preparation. Since 2013, he has been the SSB’s responsible operations manager for light rail and bus operations. From 2010 to 2018, he also worked on the cross-border tramway from Strasbourg to Kehl as the responsible operations manager in accordance with the German “Building and Operating Regulations for Tramways” (BOStrab) for the planning and construction of the Kehl tram. From 2004 to 2009 he was operations manager of the Schöneicher-Rüdersdorfer Straßenbahn, a small municipal tramway operation near Berlin. Reinhold Schröter began his professional career at Üstra, the Hanover transport company. There he first worked as a student trainee, then as a product manager for buses. Reinhold Schröter studied linguistics and civil engineering at the universities of Hamburg, Vienna and Hanover. Reinhold Schröter is active in the Association of German Transport Companies (VDV) and has co-authored several publications of the VDV’s technical regulations. He also
holds a chair at the University of Kassel in the Master’s degree programme in Public Transport, subject “Public Transport Systems”. He lectures internationally on systems engineering and technical safety of trams and has published a number of technical articles.
