Alain Groff is 56 years old, born in Mulhouse (FR) and a Luxembourg citizen. He has been Head of the Office for Mobility of the Canton of Basel-Stadt with around 45 employees since 2009. The office is responsible for traffic data, strategies, concepts and preliminary studies. It plans and orders public transport services, develops networks for pedestrian and bicycle traffic and supports sharing systems. The office is also responsible for the traffic signals and for the sovereign orders for the regulation of stationary and flowing traffic. Alain Groff graduated from the University of Stuttgart with a degree in civil engineering. After four years in the study department of the Basler Verkehrs-Betriebe BVB, he managed the light rail project BTB 2002 for the Ministry of Transport of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg from 1995 to 2000. After working briefly for the consulting firm TTK Karlsruhe, he moved to the Canton of Basel-Stadt in 2001, where he worked as Head of Public Transport until 2008 and helped to establish the new Office for Mobility.
